Online typing courses stop when the internet does. That is a problem for students with weak Wi-Fi, home learners and classrooms that block websites.
TypingClub is a strong free course, but it runs in the browser. TypeMaster has levels and real books, and its desktop app works fully offline.
What TypingClub does well#
As of October 2026, TypingClub gets about 8.2 million visits a month (Hypestat estimate). Its site lists 23 million+ students and 50,000+ schools.
- Free for individuals and schools, with an optional paid School Edition.
- No account needed. You can create an optional profile to save progress.
- Lessons with stars, badges, games, videos and a hand posture guide.
- Animated story typing series, kids' lessons, Dvorak and one-hand lesson plans.
- Many languages, voice-over and strong accessibility features.
